Geothermal panel startup closes CHF 1.3 million seed funding round

Enerdrape, a Vaud, Switzerland-based startup pioneering prefabricated geothermal panel technology, has just closed a 1.3 million Swiss franc (approximately $1.5 million) seed round. Swiss investors, including Après-demain and Romande Energie through the GeneRActions Planet initiative, led the seed funding round, aligning with enerdrape's vision for a sustainable future.

Founded by Margaux Peltier, Dr. Alessandro Rotta Loria and Prof. Lyesse Laloui, enerdrape has developed prefabricated geothermal panel technology that converts underground structures, such as garages or tunnels, into renewable sources of heat and cooling energy without the need for drilling. These panels are modular, thin, flexible, made of recyclable materials and compatible with heat pumps.

"This CHF 1.3 million capital injection demonstrates our investors' confidence in enerdrape's mission and potential. It will propel the company to expand its business, enhance its product offering and strengthen its team by bringing in new talent. This not only enhances the success of our seed round, but also opens the door to exciting possibilities to come in our Series A funding journey," Margaux Peltier, CEO and co-founder of enerdrape, said.

The additional capital infusion will be used to strengthen enerdrape's product development efforts and contribute to the strategic enhancement of the existing team. This financing milestone will bring the company's total fundraising to more than CHF 2 million, following enerdrape's success in 2022 with CHF 500,000 in support from prestigious organizations such as the Swiss Climate Foundation and Fondation pour l'Innovation et la Technologie (FIT) , and received accolades through the Venture and PERL awards.

"The investment in enerdrape reinforces our commitment to the energy transition through GeneRActions Planet. With its innovative geothermal panel technology, enerdrape has the potential to revolutionize the energy industry and we congratulate Margaux on its disruptive invention," Thierry Mauvernay, President and shareholder of Après-demain SA, commented.

"We have been following the startup since the early days of enerdrape's creation and are very interested in this form of geothermal energy that fits perfectly with Romande Energie's proposed energy efficient solution to decarbonize the region," Paolo Pizzolato, head of venture capital at Romande Energie, added.

Romande Energie is also involved in geothermal exploration work in several areas of Switzerland, such as Lausanne, Lake Leman and Lavelle-les-Bains.
